Two Newton Attractions celebrating Milestone Anniversaries in July

Two Newton attractions will be marking milestone anniversaries in July with a weekend full of public celebrations!

Sand Creek Station Golf Course Events – July 7th and July 9th

Sand Creek Station Golf Course will celebrate its 10th anniversary with two days of events. On Thursday, July 7, the course will open its back 9 holes from 5-8 p.m. for a family fun walk. In addition to the course walk, attendees can also enjoy free foot golf and a golf clinic and contests for kids on the driving range.  Foot golf participants must register in advance by calling the Pro Shop at 316-284-6161. No registration is required for the fun walk or children’s activities. The fun walk will showcase some of Sand Creek’s most notorious holes, including “The Beast,” Hole #16 and Hole #12. The course has been named one of the top public golf courses in the country and was the 2014 host for the USGA’s final Amateur Public Links tournament.

Free hot dogs and hamburgers, water and Gatorade will be offered to the first 200 patrons who sign up by calling 316-284-6161 or emailing Chris Tuohey at ctuohey@kempersports.com.

On Saturday, July 9, Sand Creek Station will offer special pricing  and give-aways for patrons. Anyone who reserves a tee time on July 9 will receive $10 off green fee and free 10-minute golf lessons with one of Sand Creek’s golf pros will be offered from 8 a.m. to noon, by reservation. A barbecue lunch will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition, a winner will be selected each hour from noon to 4 p.m. for prize drawings!  The grand prize will be a free month of golf at Sand Creek. Reservations for tee times or free golf lessons can be made by calling 316-284-6161.

Dueling Pianos – Friday, July 8th

The Meridian Center is also celebrating a milestone this year, marking its fifth anniversary. The conference center will host 176 Keys’ “Dueling Pianos” from 7-10 p.m. Friday, July 8. Tickets are $20 for this lively performance and include complimentary finger food, tea and water. A cash bar for soda and alcoholic beverages also will be available.
